New Zealand (English Version)
Welcome to the Digital Excursion: Flora of New Zealand's North Island
New Zealand's North Island is home to a unique plant world, unmatched anywhere in the world for its diversity, originality and beauty. With this digital excursion, we invite you to take a virtual tour, allowing you to explore New Zealand's fascinating flora—without a long trip, right from the comfort of your home.
How your excursion works
Our digital excursion currently consists of five chapters, which you can work through at your own pace. Each chapter takes you to a specific region and gives you an insight into the diversity and special aspects of the local flora, as well as its ecological context:
- The chapters build on each other chronologically, so we recommend starting with Chapter 1 and following the suggested route.
- At the end of each chapter, there are questions to test and strengthen your knowledge.
- However, you can also jump between chapters as you wish, depending on what interests you most.
What you can expect
- Botanical knowledge explained clearly and comprehensively
- Images taken directly from New Zealand's natural environment
- Information on endemic, endangered and unusual plant species
- Fascinating insights into the ecological relationships and special features of New Zealand's flora
The journey continues...
This excursion is a growing project. Further chapters on the North Island will be published in the coming months. We are also currently working on integrating images from the South Island to provide an even more complete insight into New Zealand's flora.
